The jewelry girls

In the morning, Sumeeta (10) makes chapati, chai, dal and rice. Then she goes to the beach to sell jewels. Her shop is a plastic box from where she takes out pens, mirrors, anklets, bracelets, necklaces, diaries, boxes...

Suneeta is 15, she can greet in many languages: French, Italian, Russian, and even Japanese!

These girls come from Karnataka, the nearby state. They come to Goa for the season. In April, they go back to Hampi where they can go back to school and be with their families.

Bargaining isn't always easy... you can say "makanaka", meaning "I don't want anything" in Konkani, the dialect spoken in Goa.
